I dislike Microsoft – the arrogance that comes from having such a strong market position is extremely irritating.
The disaster that was Vista didn’t affect them at all – whereas it should have buried them.
So I do not look forward to the release of Windows 7.
All my machines are still running XP – and the fact that XP has survived for 7 years is testament to the fact that it was a good release.
I don’t want sexy snapping windows and slinky messages popping up all the time – I just want a simple, stable and reliable platform that works quickly and consistently, every time. Is that really too much to ask?
I’d switch to Linux in a flash if I had the techie skills to do so – but I don’t. And because many of the applications I use are only available in Windows format I don’t even get the luxury of using Mac.
Still – my XP machines are going to be in service for a while yet, because I’m not going to even contemplate a switch to W7 until at least the first Service Pack is released.
Here, apparently, are 18 sexy things that Windows 7 is going to do for us.

I think you’ll find a Linux upgrade wiol be easier than XP to W7 which requires a “clean install” ie format your hard drive and start again.

LOL..! Why am I not surprised..!?
Actually I’ve never done an upgrade when previous new versions of Windows have come out – I’ve always used the originally installed version as long as I can and then bought a new PC with the new OS.
I’ve heard too many stories of problems and degraded performance resulting from upgrading the OS that I’ve always avoided doing that.
Maybe I should just get my skates on and learn Linux
Cheers,
Martin.
