It’s difficult for me to understand what on earth Max Mosely is trying to do.
Almost immediately after the WMSC meeting a couple of weeks ago, when the differences between the FIA and FOTA appeared to have been resolved, he turned around and started going back on his undertakings (that he would not stand for re-election in October).
Of course he positioned it as ‘..I’m receiving a lot of pressure from the members to stay on..’.
I’d love to know the truth of that one.
Now, despite having confirmed the 2010 entry list (which included the FOTA teams), the FIA told the FOTA teams in Nurburgring that, actually, they’re not entered after all and, therefore, they have no voting rights at any meeting set up to discuss 2010 rules and regulations.
What kind of lunacy is that..!?
Even if it is technically true, wouldn’t it have shown a willingess to put the past behind them and work together towards a sensible, stable future for F1, for the FIA to have found a way around it?
The chances of FOTA leaving F1 altogether and setting up a breakaway series must have multiplied a gazillion times after that.
After all, they’ve been told they’re NOT officially entered for 2010 after all and, even if at some point they were told that they were now entered, there’s a high probability that it would be under a set of rules into which they had no input.
Max Mosely is well, well past his sell-by date. If I was CVC (let alone Bernie Eccelstone) I’d be stepping in urgently now because the F1 ship is steaming towards the precipice at full speed and a lot of people are going to lose a lot of money.
